Port & terminal staffing

A vessel on berth is a clock, not a schedule.

Berth windows, gate hours and turnaround times were set before anyone asked whether you were fully crewed. We staff terminal and port operations across South Florida with screened, credential-ready workers.

Why ports are unforgiving

Nothing about a port waits. The vessel has a window, the gate has hours, and the next ship is already inbound.

Short a crew on a turnaround and the cost does not stay on the dock. It moves down the chain into detention, demurrage, missed gate cuts and a berth schedule that everyone behind you now has to absorb.

Port work also has a gate in front of it that other industrial staffing does not. Access is credentialed and screening is not optional, so a worker who is not cleared is not late, they are simply not getting in.

How a call runs

Cleared first, then scheduled.

Port staffing fails at the gate, not on the dock. So we work backwards from access.

STEP 01

Scope the operation

Terminal, berth window, shift pattern, headcount by position, equipment certifications and the access requirements your facility enforces.

STEP 02

Screen against access

Background checks, drug testing and certification confirmation happen before assignment, so nobody is turned away at the gate on the morning of a call.

STEP 03

Crew the window

Crew is scheduled to the vessel or gate window rather than to a generic shift, and briefed on where to report and who they answer to before they arrive.

STEP 04

Hold the schedule

We stay on the account across the run and backfill attrition as it happens, so recurring calls do not degrade after the first few weeks.

Access, risk and cost

Cleared, covered, and off your payroll.

Xpand is entrusted to work with the United States government and holds WOSB certification, which matters when a terminal operator is working under federal or set-aside requirements.

How to bring them on

Three ways to crew a call.

Option 01

Temporary

Single vessel calls, turnaround days, seasonal peaks and short projects without adding permanent payroll. Crew stays on our books for the duration.

Option 02

Temp-to-Staff

Recurring calls let you see the same people work your terminal repeatedly. Attendance, safety and pace in your own operation, then hire the ones who hold up.

Option 03

Direct Hire

For supervisory and specialised terminal roles. Full recruiting, thorough screening, skill testing and reference checks, with follow-up through our guarantee date.

Request crew

Give us the window. We’ll crew it.

Send us the terminal, the shift and the headcount by position. A dedicated hiring expert comes back to you, not a queue.
